Roku 3, Roku streaming stick, and now supports the brand new Roku 2 (2015 model) screen mirroring. With this, Android and Windows users can easily mirror the content on their Smartphone or PC to their TV. Here’s how to set it up:
Enable Roku Screen Mirroring
You must first enable screen mirroring on your Roku device. This can be done by clicking on Settings in the left navigation bar after screen navigation.
Roku Screen Mirroring On Android
Before we jump right, make sure your Android device is running 4.4.2 or later. You can check it by going to Settings and clicking on about. Your device should also be connected to a network similar to your Roku. You can see the network that your Roku setting is connected to the Network section of the menu.
To start mirroring on the stock Android device, go to Settings, click on display, then on Cast Screen. Then tap the menu button in the top right corner of the screen and check Enable wireless display box. Your stop now should be visible in the cast screen section.
If it is not visible, go back to Settings and reopen the Cast screen again. Once you see your Roku box or stick on the screen, tap on it to connect. What you see on your mobile device is what will be displayed on your TV.
The method on devices from Samsung, HTC, LG and other Android manufacturers is slightly different. For example, on Galaxy S5 you will find screen mirroring options under the Connect and Share section of the settings menu. On other Android devices, you should get a screen mirroring option in the Settings menu or Display Summary, as long as the device is running Android 4.4.2 or higher.
Some Android apps like Netflix, HBO Go and YouTube can also be presented on your screen, like how Chromecast works. Simply tap the cast icon in the top right corner of the corresponding app and select your Roku box or stick.
Roku Screen Mirroring On Windows 8.1 devices
Roku’s screen sharing feature is also compatible with Windows 8.1 tablet and computer. To set it up, go to Settings, click on PCs and Devices, and then add devices, then Device. When your stop appears on the drop-down menu, tap on it to connect.
